Platform Requirements

This page is organized by CXone application in general categories. It describes the requirements for CXone to work correctly in your environment.

The Ports page contains information regarding the portsClosedWhere information transfers, over a network, between a computer and a server., IP addresses, fully-qualified domain names (FQDNs), and so on used in the CXone cloud. You'll need to review both pages to configure your CXone environment.

CXone Web Portal (Central)

The CXone web portal, sometimes referred to as Central, is used primarily by contact center personnel at the supervisory level or higher. It lets users configure their applications, contact channels, and users. The web portal is supported in several different languages.

If your contact center workstations also run other applications, you may need to adjust the following requirements based on the total load of all applications.

Server Operating System Notes

CXone does not require any servers, but some organizations choose to use them:

For customers using other server operating systems such as Linux or Unix, we recommend the following based on the three most common Linux operating systems:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux — RHEL 6.5 or later
  • CentOS — Version 6.5 or later
  • SUSE Linux Enterprise — Version 12 or later

There are many other variations for these non-Windows operating systems. As a general guideline, make sure that any operating system version you use supports newer, stronger encryption protocols and TLS 1.2.

Agent Apps: MAX

MAX is the CXone-native agent application for handling voice and digital interactions. For voice, MAX-enabled agents can use the web-based Integrated Softphone, the installed client application CXone Softphone, or a separate virtual or physical telephone. MAX also has two related applications that are discussed separately: Supervisor and Advanced Chat, Proactive Chat, Web Analytics and Collaboration.

MAX is currently supported in ten languages.

If your contact center workstations also run other applications, you may need to adjust the following requirements based on the total load of all applications.

The bandwidth needed for voice depends on the codec, or compression algorithm, used by the softphone. The number of simultaneous calls x the codec kbps = total VoIP bandwidth.

Codec bandwidth use is bi-directional. A G.711 call requires 88 Kbps up (from agent to caller) and 88 Kbps down (from caller to agent) simultaneously.

Workstation and Network Notes

Personal Connection is the CXone outbound dialing solution. It delivers calls to agents in their agent application. If your organization uses Personal Connection at a dialing ratio higher than 3:1, agent workstations should have at least 4 GB of RAM. If the workstations run other applications in addition to the CXone agent application, increase the RAM to 8 GB.

Antivirus systems sometimes falsely identify installed applications as infected when they don't recognize the file extension or for other reasons. This can happen with CXone desktop applications as well. Work with your antivirus vendor to resolve any such issues.

Agent Apps: Supervisor

Supervisor is a browser-based application that lets supervisors monitor and interact with agents and view their performance in real time. It works with MAX and shares the same workstation and OS requirements.

CXone Advanced Chat, Proactive Chat, Web Analytics and Collaboration is a web-based application that provides enhanced chat capabilities, including co-browsing. It requires agents to be MAX-enabled, and shares the same workstation and OS requirements with one exception: CXoneAdvanced Chat, Proactive Chat, Web Analytics and Collaboration does not support Windows 8 or iOS.

Agent Applications: Integrated Softphone

Integrated Softphone provides embedded voice communication as a seamless component of the agent application. It can be used with MAX and is sometimes referred to as MAXIS in that context. It is also supported with Agent for Salesforce and Agent for Oracle Service Cloud. For workstation and operating system requirements, refer to the agent application.

Integrated Softphone is not officially supported on virtual desktop (VDI) environments. CXone Support cannot replicate voice quality issues with Integrated Softphone on VDI-based browser environments and cannot consider these issues to be product- or platform-related.

Agent Applications: CRM-Integrated

If your organization uses Agent for Salesforce, Agent for Oracle Service Cloud, or another of our agent applications based in a CRMClosedThird-party systems that manage such things as contacts, sales information, support details, and case histories., consult the workstation hardware, software, and virtualization requirements for the CRM platform.

If your agents use Agent for Salesforce with the Integrated Softphone, there are two changes to the listed requirements:

  • Integrated Softphone cannot be used in Firefox
  • Any supported browser must accept cookies

Agent for Oracle Service Cloud is a CXone agent application that is downloaded and installed on the agent workstation. It allows agents to handle interactions right in Oracle Service Cloud, and can be used with the web-based Integrated Softphone or a separate virtual or physical telephone.

CXone supports Agent for Oracle Service Cloud v19a or older.

Integrated CXone Suite Applications

The CXone suite integrates with a variety of other applications. Some of these applications launch in a different instance in your web browser. Others run partly on local servers owned by your organization and partly in the CXone cloud.

Engage QM Integrated

Engage QM Integrated provides quality management tools for large enterprises. It uses primarily local server-based storage for recordings but evaluations are performed and stored using tools in the CXone cloud.

Engage QM Integrated implementations are highly customized. Requirements presented in this section are general. Final requirements will be determined during the discovery process.

IEX WFM Integrated

IEX WFM Integrated provides scheduling, forecasting, and other workforce management tools for large enterprises. It runs in the CXone cloud. Agents and supervisors access IEX WFM Integrated through their web browser.

Administrators may also use the IEX WFM Integrated Rich Client (RCP), an installed client application that provides additional functionality.

CXone Performance Management

CXone Performance Management is completely web-based. It allows supervisors to create detailed reports and dashboards for the contact center metrics most important to them. It also provides agent access to their own metrics. Optionally, supervisors can create games and challenges for agents to improve contact center performance and morale.

Interaction Analytics is an intelligent linguistic analytics engine. It converts contact center call, email, and chat transcripts into consumable data. It is typically used by contact center supervisors and managers to better understand what's happening in the contact center.

Performance Analytics for Salesforce Einstein

CXone Performance Analytics for Salesforce Einstein is a Salesforce-based, AI-powered analytics application that pinpoints specific recommendations to improve contact center performance. Once configured, the application automatically links CXone contact center interaction data to Salesforce objects, creating a fully-blended view of your data for Salesforce Einstein to analyze. It is typically used by contact center and Salesforce analysts in your organization.

Performance Analytics for Salesforce Einstein is supported by Enterprise and Unlimited Salesforce editions. It is only compatible with the Lightning Experience Agent for Salesforce.

The CXone suite includes a few applications that are installed on client workstations or servers. These applications are generally used by a small subset of specialized users.

Studio

Studio is a user-friendly application that allows workflow designers to create and manage scripts. These scripts are used for contact routing, IVRClosedAutomated phone menu that allows callers to interact through voice commands, key inputs, or both, to obtain information, route an inbound voice call, or both. applications, ASRClosedAllows contacts to respond to recorded voice prompts by speaking, pressing keys on their phone, or a combination of both., and similar purposes.

CXone Skype for Business Connector

Skype for Business Connector collects contact and presence information from your Skype for Business directory. It displays the information in a dynamic address book in the agent application.

NICE inContact WFO is a hosted version of the Uptivity WFO premise-based recording and QM application. It has a separate online help site with platform requirements.

In general, all CXone applications support the current browser version and the version immediately preceding it. For example, if the current version of Chrome is 75, we'd support 74 and 75. Not all applications support all browsers, so check your specific CXone application on this page for details.

CXone applications that support Microsoft Edge only support the version of Edge based on Chromium. Legacy Edge is not supported, but Chromium Edge does have a Legacy Edge mode that can be used.
